One of the big criticism Amazon has to face, is that it is a great place to shop, but a lousy place to browse. To counter that, the shopping Giant is testing a new service called Scout. Currently, it is available for a few categories, like furniture and women shoes, but the site says that more categories are coming soon for things like clothing and handbags.
Amazon ask shoppers to like or dislike a product, and by using machine learning, Scout will show the user products based on his choice. “This is a new way to shop, allowing customers to browse millions of items and quickly refine the selection based solely on visual attributes,” an Amazon spokesperson said in an emailed statement. “Amazon uses imagery from across its robust selection to extract thousands of visual attributes for showing customers a variety of items so they can select their preferences as they go.” Learn more.
